Ruby Powell

Ruby Powell is an Austin artist who has been creating and selling paintings for almost 20 years. She is the resident artist at Hilmy Cellars, has permanent pieces at Driscoll Children's Hospital, has shown at Gotham City Lofts on Broadway in Manhattan, and has hung at several restaurants and coffee shops in Austin and Corpus Christi. Her style is described as simple form, bold color, and lots of texture. Ruby is self-taught, so there's a childlike, naive essence to her pieces. She explains, "that style is one of my signatures that I hope to never lose." Ruby's pieces are intended to be eye-catching and striking. She says, "I'm not satisfied until the colors & shapes pop off the canvas and give me a jolt."
