Sweat House Art Gallery

Sweat House Art Gallery

The house has a history dating back to 1898. The historical description of the house is "the Sweat House", due to the houses association with the civil rights icons of Heman Sweat and Thurgood Marshall. We purchased the house back in 1996 with an order for demolition pending. Our goal was to reestablish our Gallery space lost to development, The Niendorff Art Gallery-E. 6th Street. 25 years later, our hope is to create a unique art exhibition space and bring attention to the rich historical significance of the space and area.
