Tour Stop #231

Edward Murray

I took a moderate number of art and design courses in college, but I knew that to acquire individuality (the pinnacle attribute of a true artist IMO) in my work, I would need to pave my own path of research, trial and error. I've dabbled and experimented with a great number of mediums/materials for decades. A core belief of mine is that the medium is integral to the character of the work.

My first show as a professional artist was in 2006.

I have traveled where the wind has blown me for much of my life, and seen many things. It was when I moved to Austin that I first felt a sense of "home". Since then I have called myself "Edward of Austin". My travels are now merely a backstory and seasoning. Over the last 5 years I have become known locally for my small facepot sculptures for succulents. My new work is mostly large mixed media sculpture, although I also have large sculptures in concrete and air dry clay, as well as pottery.
