
Cat Quintanilla
Born 1954 in Austin Texas, Cat Quintanilla attended public school and then earned her Bachelor in fine Art from the University of Texas in 81. After working for 25 years as a graphic designer and raising a family, Cat moved into a leadership role with public service in elected office in Sunset Valley, Texas as a council member and then as the mayor promoting a green agenda. Cat’s journey in life blossomed fully into to a full time love of art and sculpture. Cat shared the art of sculpture by teaching stone carving at both the Southwest School of Art in San Antonio and at Austin’s Contemporary for several years. Cat now works full time creating sculptures, paintings and block prints in her Central Texas and Guanajuato, México art studios. In addition to her sculptures receiving awards in a number of Texas cities, Cat was recognized as an outstanding Texas Latina woman artist and community leader in the Austin History Center 2019 101 VOCES DE LATINAS program. Additional recognitions were for public service and volunteer work. Cat currently works on reverse engineering her Mexican heritage and language while hoping to create a portal for others to do the same.
