Tour Stop #148

Kicka Wendell

My passion is “playing with wool”, to create light weight wearable art and home decor!

It’s a process of discovery, exploration and labor of love, never knowing exactly where it leads. The journey is full of surprises, and beauty!

I use both traditional felt making technique and nuno felting, blending tradition with innovation. Each piece is unique and handcrafted with attention of detail. Bold shapes, monochromatic colors, asymmetry and quiet elegance define my style.

Since an early age I have always been in search of beauty, and wanting to put my own spin to it!

I was constantly designing and sewing clothing, knitting, and redecorating our home.

Life brough me from my native Finland, through Paris to USA.

For many years I decorated other people’s homes, and was searching for my lost passion to create with my hands. Being rather spontaneous as I am, being a felt artist came to me in a dream, so here I am!!

Very familiar with the felt material, a traditional Scandinavian textile used for clothing, accessories, and home decor, I jumped at the opportunity and started my journey discovering the ingenuity and uniqueness of felt fabric.
