Stephanie Strange

I was born in Dallas 1970 to parents that were somewhat nomadic. My childhood was full of change. Each new homestead was an exciting time to explore a different situation: housing, community, nature, it was all of interest. I was an explorer from the start and that spirit of discovery is dominant in my artistic journey. I create works on paper with graphite, watercolor and typewriters often finding that there is a 'beyond' to the boundaries of a medium. My inspiration and focus is on energy and how it flows and connects all things. I received my BFA in graphics from Sam Houston State in 1996 and worked as a designer in San Antonio four years. I started my art career with a storefront studio in Chicago 2003. Returned to Texas in 2005, landing in Austin, Smithville then Bastrop where I was involved in developing the art community. In 2012 I live/worked in The Netherlands for two years. Found myself back in Texas outside of Corsicana before returning to South Austin in 2018. I am now based in a lovely studio surrounded by nature in West Austin where I continue to explore the flow of energy through my art.
