Eugenie Baranoff
Austin became my home in 1960 at the age of seven. My BFA is from UT Austin in 1975. I have a Masters in Clinical Social Work (LCSW) and a post Masters in Art Therapy from UC Berkeley Extension (1991).
Creating paintings, sewing/painting protest banners for peace & community organizing and throwing pots on the wheel kept me grounded during my 32 years as a clinician.
My paintings are figurative and often seem to tell a story. I’ve done a series about the Ukraine war as my paternal grandparents came from north of Odessa. Making pottery is my form of meditation.
As my health declines my artwork has become smaller and the robustness comes from color and content. My subject matter is often the human condition, the hope for transcendence, and being a witness & sharing the journey.
I love the community I have found with other artists.
