Carey Conner

Carey Conner, a Native Austinite, considers three of her most important roles to be a painter, mother, and educator. As a painter, Carey’s steadfast inspiration is nature. She is continuously awed by sunsets, sunrises, the configurations of clouds as they move across the sky, and the textures of all that is natural. She has been known to pause her drive or walk just to gaze at the sight before her. Usually, the moments of awe are followed by Carey entering her studio to abstract what she remembers, hoping to convey the experiences with significant attention given to texture and color.
